After my Brain stem stroke on 13th April 2000 a few things happened and a new me was born. I had kissed death almost and my good Doctor Friend and sister Dr Vimala Nayanar was concerned I might go into depression like most stroke survivors do and kept insisting that I write a Book.
I am an Engineer and used to writing only technical stuff. It is my wife Mithu who had a natural flair for writing and also my sister Manju who always dreamed of becoming a journalist but ended up a doctor of medicine and Sheel studied Journalism. I saw myself as some one with zero potential with them pen/keyboard.
But then in 2002 when I was in London I had a Dream and the very next day I started the IIT Madras Global Yahoo Group and over a matter of days I had 500 members. Came back to Sydney and my friend Vijay who is from IIT Delhi said Why limit it to IIT Madras. Open it up to all alumni of all IITs.
So from 2002 to 2007 I was writing and exchanging thoughts with IIT Alumni pals on Yahoo Groups day and night and also my stroke support group Vad Club.
Writing was becoming a habit and a second nature something I had never even guessed ever.
In 2007 I started on my book detailing my journey through IIT and in 2008 I published "Reflections by IITians" and launched the Book at PanIIT 2008 at IIT Madras. I have not stopped writing since.
In 2009 I taught my self Blogging. Thanks to Google for creating the Blogger. It was pretty basic then as opposed to what it is today. Publishing printed books is out of vogue the inthing today is On Line Publishing and Blogger was the perfect tool.
I dabbled with a Blog for IIT Madras Alumni association in 2006. This was my first Blog that never saw the light of day. Today in 2019 I have well over 70 Blogs making me a Bloggaholic. Earlier in the year I deleted many blogs that were of no value or purpose and what you see in IMHO is what I value.
