A Friend of mine asked me an hour back "Hey Rambo what would you do differently if you were PM of Australia or India ?"
My first reaction was who am I and what are my credentials to even think I could find a solution.
Having said that I always like to look outside the Box and look for Unique solutions to Unique Problems. So I started to think.....
My analytical mind tells me that that it is obvious all countries have failed in containing this disease except China. Most countries have locked down totally and it has not worked USA is a Prime example of the failure of this LOCKDOWN approach.
What Did China Do that these Countries did not do ?
"CHINA SUCCESSFULLY ISOLATED WUHAN FROM THE REST OF CHINA" and this contained and controlled the COVID 19 Disease spreading to the rest of China. ( Whether you believe it or Not, this atleast explains Chinas Claims)
As for people who were holidaying or working in Wuhan and travelling overseas. It happened and is water under the Bridge, as Airlines were still flying people around and Cruise ships were very busy continuing their businesses and majority were Tourists or Students from other Countries or on a Work related Visit. Non Chinese Citizens.
There are so many cruise ships with Corona Infections Stranded with no where to go as no country wants them..One is sitting off the Coast of Western Australia and the CM has asked the Cruise ship to go back to where the Cruise Originated with all Passengers including Australian Citizens on Board.
Now this is my Solution.
ISOLATE ALL INFECTED PEOPLE AS OPPOSED TO LOCKDOWN OF THE ENTIRE NATION.
India and Australia have about 1000 infected Patients (ASSUMING THE FIGURES ARE RELIABLE) . Put them on a Cruise ships and anchor them miles away from the mainland. Convert the ship to an Floating ICU.
If Not Convert a Long Train into an ICU and take all the infected people far away into "No where" where there are no people to infect like the Nullarbor or Rajhastan Gobi Desert. The heat there should kill the Virus.
Another option would be Immediately Convert One Public Hospital in each State to an INFECTIOUS DISEASE HOSPITAL. For example in NSW let us Convert Royal Prince Henry Hospital or Concord Hospital into INFECTIOUS DISEASE HOSPITAL and move all infected patients there immediately. This will allow all other hospitals to continue normal operations unhindered.
Having Isolated the infected, search for all he people who the infected people were in Contact with and Isolate them in their own homes. Put them under lock and key in their own homes like Home Arrest, checking on their health and providing them with necessary food and services...
LOCKING DOWN AN ENTIRE NATION IS MEANINGLESS AND AN ECONOMIC DISASTER AS WE CAN ALL SEE.
Spend the next three weeks in locating all those who could have potentially been infected and ISOLATE them and let the rest of the Population FREE and get on with their jobs and lives..
Most of you may think I am Crazy; but is this not what China Did and Succeeded Too?
Why then are we following USA, ITALY, SPAIN ETC which have failed miserably already with over 600,000 infections and soaring exponentially.
Australia is heading for winter which is also our Flu Season.
IT is a LOT Cheaper to Isolate a few thousand people as opposed to asking the entire nation to isolate themselves.
Not only that this frees up our Doctors and Researchers to work round the Clock trying to find a Vaccine or some existing drugs to cull the disease.
General Hospital Management Guidelines:
1- Create one dedicated 1000 bed Corona Hospital in each and every State in the Country. (For Sydney,NSW suggest Prince Henry Hospital as it is near the Sea and not in a very residential area. Or Concord Hospital as there are not too many houses around the hospital.
2- Centralised Air Conditioning could spread the disease further. Best turn centralised a/c off and each ward to be fitted with required number of split units and large bar heaters that can kill air borne virus hopefully.
3- Only Experts in Infectious disease Management to work at the dedicated Corona Hospital. All Doctors and nursing staff from all other hospitals who work in infectious disease depts to report for Duty at the Corona Hospital.
4- Once this is done it will free up all other hospitals especially ICUs and Operating Theatres to Function normally performing essential; and even elective surgeries like before.
5- the minute any patient in any hospital is diagnosed Corona Positive has to be shifted to the Corona Hospital ASAP.
6- Now that we have portable devices to test for Corona giving results in 5 minutes. Each ambulance should have one of these portable units and if test is positive Patients should be rushed direct to the Corona Hospital and nowhere else.
Lock Down Home arrest Procedures:
Assuming, 1000 people are Corona Positive as an example, we need a dedicated IT Team to interrogate each infected patient to list all their movements and the number of known people who might have come into contact. Any patient refusing to cooperate and give details should be hit with a large fine say $5000. As and when the the lists are made, Take Immediate Action, send Police squads and lock down these potentials. Lock these people in their own homes and apartments. No one should be able to break this Rule even elected politicians. Any one leaving and going out of their premises should be automatically given three months imprisonment by the Police and not have to go to courts.
If each corona patient say has infected 250 people total number of people exposed would be 250,000. It is easier to enforce lock down for these 250,000 that lock down the nation of 25 million people in Australia or 1.3 billion people in India.
TIME IS OF ESSENCE HERE AND THE NEED TO ACT FAST and get people live lives normally so people do not fight for toilet paper.
Understandably all Leaders are panicking and succumbing to political pressures to be seen to be doing the right thing..
Time to ACT.
