"This too shall pass”
There was a king and he once said to the court sages - I have a ring with one of the finest diamonds in the world and I want to hide a message under the stone that can be useful in a situation of extreme despair. I will give this ring to my heirs and I want it to serve faithfully. Think of what kind of message will be there. It must be very short to fit in the ring.
The sages knew how to write treatises, but did not express themselves in one short sentence. They thought and thought, but did not come up with anything.
The king complained about the failure of his venture to a faithful old servant who raised him from infancy and was part of the family. And the old man said to him:
“I’m not a sage, I’m not educated, but I know such a message. For many years spent in the palace, I met a lot of people. And once I served a visiting mystic whom your father invited. And he gave me this message. I ask that you don’t read it now. Save it under the stone and open it only when there’s no way out at all. The king listened to the old servant.
After some time, the enemies attacked the country and the king lost the war. He fled on his horse and his enemies pursued him. He was alone, his enemies were many. He rode to the end of the road. There was a huge deep cliff before him, if he fell there, it is the end. He could not go back, as the enemies were approaching. He already heard the clatter of their horses' hooves. He had no way out. He was in complete despair.
And then he remembered the ring. He opened it and found an inscription: “This too shall pass”
After reading the message, he felt that everything was quiet. Apparently the pursuers got lost and proceeded in the wrong direction. Horses were no longer heard.
The king was filled with gratitude to the servant and the unknown mystic. The words were powerful. He closed the ring. And set out on the road. He gathered his army and returned his state.
On the day when he returned to the palace, they arranged a magnificent meeting, a feast for the whole world - the people loved their king. The king was happy and proud.
An old servant came up to him and said softly: “Even in this moment, look at the message again.”
The king said, “Now I am a winner, people are celebrating my return, I'm not in despair, not in a hopeless situation."
“Listen to this old servant,” the servant answered. “The message works not only in moments when everything is bad, but also in moments of victory.”
The king opened the ring and read:
"This too shall pass."
And again he felt a silence fall over him, although he was in the midst of a noisy dancing crowd. His pride dissolved. He understood the message. He was a wise man.
And then the old man said to the king; “Do you remember everything that happened to you? Nothing and no feeling is permanent. As night changes day, so moments of joy and despair replace each other. Accept them as the nature of things, as part of life”
Look at the events in your life (both good and not so good) while considering the words of the parable "This too shall pass."
Then write what thoughts and feelings you have about the meaning of the parable. Send me your writing. Thanks

I believe that life is nothing but a Drama on a Stage with you as the main star and you are there constantly from birth to death.
When you are awake so many people walk on to the stage with some kind of message or the other. Some stay on stage for life and the others depart when they have given the message they were meant to pass on to you. The same way you walk on to their stages too for a reason and a season.
On a Given day when we wake up we have no clue what awaits us. it is just potluck of good and bad. Some of this might last a while and some dissipate into nothing in quick time. Everything is transient on this "Stage called Life". From the day we are born every day we grow older. when young we are in a hurry to grow up and when you get old all that you wish is that you were young again and back in your primary school.
Be it happiness or sorrow, success or defeat, gain or loss, good or bad health, fortune and misfortune they are all two sides of the same coin and what needs to be remembered and appreciated is nothing is permanent, except death. Even that we do not know as life after death could be a continuation of the current dream in a different state of embodiment and that there too everything will be transient and shall pass..
When night time falls on the centre stage every one falls asleep including yourself and pass into a Dream state. Even these dreams can be delightful happy dreams and some nights horrible nightmares on other nights but then these too shall pass like everything on earth as they are only dreams and nothing but dreams. some dreams may even come true and you think of them as premonitions.
With time more and more children are born and more and more people breathe their lasts, ashes to ashe, dust to dust to maintain a balance of life on earth.
This proves we are mere mortals here one day gone the next.

"Yes life is But a Dream" a Hymn Amma always sang and everything in life shall pass both good and bad.( Except the song is at the tip of my tongue but cannot get it out now)
So it is best not to React violently to situations in life, exasperating & precipitating the situation. Stay calm and cool and this too shall pass. Best not to get angry and say things we regret the rest of our lives..
Fortunes are made and lost so mwhat as all that man needs to survive is three reasonably healthy meals and a roof over his head and a bed to sleep on. In fact poorer people sleep better whilst the wealthy worry about losing their fortunes..
Remember we are born into this world with empty hands and depart with empty hands too.
Never despair at any time as "This too shall pass."
13th April 2000, my brain and body almost died but not my will to live and I am here today 20 years later proving all the medicos wrong.
All that every man needs to navigate this life is "Will and Hope".
"Yesterday" - is a Memory could be Good Bad or even Ugly.
"Tomorrow" - is a Mystery and we have no clue what is in store; again it could be Good Bad or Ugly.
"Today" - is the Gift and why we call it the Present. Grab it and make the most of it as this too shall Pass.
