There is however something else that has immersed the Global population in. It is "Blue Tooth Technology". Everyone is using a modern digital mobile phone enabled with Blue Tooth, allowing people to wear earbuds or headphones that are connected wirelessly to their mobile phones in their pockets or handbags. The result is we have all become robots in 2020, especially the younger generation. Every second person in a popular and busy shopping centre is walking looking at their mobile phone screens watching videos with the audio being transmitted wirelessly using Blue Tooth to their EarBuds or headphones. It is annoying when youngsters walk straight into people and don't even say sorry. This is just as bad as young mothers with their babies in prams which have become WMD meaning "Weapons of Mass Destruction" as my wife calls them. If they run over your foot or your toes it is your fault for not wearing steel cap boots for protection.
Now what on earth is "Blue Tooth and why is it called Blue Tooth ? I don't know so I am consulting Dr Google.
WHY IS IT CALLED BLUETOOTH?
Harald Bluetooth was king of Denmark in the late 900s. He managed to unite Denmark and part of Norway into a single kingdom, then introduced Christianity into Denmark. He left a large monument, the Jelling rune stone, in memory of his parents. He was killed in 986 during a battle with his son, Svend Forkbeard.
Choosing this name for the standard indicates how important companies from the Nordic region (nations including Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) are to the communications industry, even if it says little about the way the technology works.
Phew This is not what I was expecting.
I believed a Blue Tongued Lizard like the one below may also have Blue Tooth . Now I know how wrong I was.😱😱😱😱

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances using UHF radio waves in the industrial, scientific and medical radio bands, from 2.402 GHz to 2.480 GHz, and building personal area networks (PANs). It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables.
Bluetooth is managed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), which has more than 35,000 member companies in the areas of telecommunication, computing, networking, and consumer electronics. The IEEE standardized Bluetooth as IEEE 802.15.1, but no longer maintains the standard. The Bluetooth SIG oversees development of the specification, manages the qualification program, and protects the trademarks.[3] A manufacturer must meet Bluetooth SIG standards to market it as a Bluetooth device.[4] A network of patents apply to the technology, which are licensed to individual qualifying devices. As of 2009, Bluetooth integrated circuit chips ship approximately 920 million units annually.[5]
In simple words Blue Tooth is Wireless technology operating in Ultra High frequencies 2.4 to 2.48 GHz
These days there is no point going to cafes and restaurants with family or friends. In about five or ten minutes the mobile phones come out one by one. Social media messages are more interesting and important to family and friends around you. This applies to young and old. Family dinner each and every night is no different. Either the Mob phones come out at the dining table or members adjourn to the TV rooms with their plates, watching the idiot box that has raved on about Donald Trump all of 2020. I have stopped watching TV especially when CNN is on.
The Good thing about Bluetooth is no one else is forced to listen to whatever you are listening. This was not so a few years back. You get on a bus or train and you can hear two or three mobile phone conversations which can be very annoying or have to listen to heavy metal the whole trip. Thanks to Blue Tooth this menace has died now, except for some old farts who still use their old analogue mob phones and talk very loud.
So many people were killed in car accidents caused by drivers using their mob phones. Today the penalties are so severe that you could lose your driving licence if you touch the Mob phone when you are driving. Today every one uses the mobphone whilst driving and no need to touch the phone as they have blue tooth to listen wirelessly. This has its advantages and disadvantages. When the ear buds are locked into blue tooth mode, one hears nothing else and a driver could be oblivious to a Blaring horn to warn the of an impending danger or not hear a police car siren, or an ambulance or a fire engine resulting in an unnecessary crash. a Month back a teenager got killed on a pedestrian crossing as she did not stop and look but walked into a car giving the driver no chance to stop for her. She was oblivious to the real world around her and blue tooth prevented her from hearing the car. For that matter about six months back another teenage girl with head phone and talking on her mob phone almost walked into my car trying to cross the road without checking for traffic. My lucky stars I slammed the Brakes and Honked so loud she will remember for life now how close she was to death.
Now my Story with BlueTooth Hearing Aids -
"The Agony and the Ecstacy"
My hearing is Totally Kaput. About 85% loss in my Right ear caused by bone conductivity loss as well as sensory loss compounded by Tinnitus that masks even what little I can hear and my left ear the better ear down by 60%. My previous set of digital hearing aids cost me a bomb and were a useless bomb too.
My good fortune a doctor friend of mine with hearing problems suggested I go to Costco. I was pretty skeptical about getting hearing aids from a Super Market and did not pursue this for almost two years. When I did and got a thorough check up and was given a loan pair of hearing aids, I must say it was the best thing that happened to me in Nov 2019 as 2020 has been nothing but a nightmare all locked up at home all year.
Guess what this Kirkland Signature hearing aids manufactured for Costco was a Blessing
And my Signature hearing Aids has, You guessed it BLUE TOOTH.
Blue Tooth is Great as I can talk on the mob phone without even touching the phone as long as the phone is within range. And wow I can watch TV and listen using Blue Tooth without putting the Volume up and annoying people with good hearing who find it too loud. The Hearing aids have their own Mob application that allows a whole range of options besides volume control. My hearing aids are linked to my Apple Mac as well using blue tooth.
The down side is that when the hearing aids are Bkue Toothed (for want of a better word) with the phone or the TV, I cannot hear a word of what any one says to me. This annoys my wife as she believes I am ignoring her deliberately.
Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Meaning if I dont wear my hearing aids I cant hear what she says and if I am wearing my hearing aids I cannot hear what she says as I am either connected to my mb phone or Mac or the TV. I can leave the TV room and walk out the front door and I can still hear the TV audio, as it is within 33 feet range. Blue Tooth 5.0 the range extends to about 400 feet.
Blue tooth cutting out all other noise signals totally can be a boon when listening to music or reading an audio book, but definitely a pain as we lose out on what is being said to us.
Signature or no signature these hearing aids like my previous dinosaurs are useless in noisy environments especially restaurants. The Microphone that picks up signals is placed behind the ear and that means I can hear the people seated behind me but not the family and friends next to me and in front of me. I try this and that and in the end get frustrated and take my hearing aids out turn them off and put them in my short pockets.
I know what is required. Blue tooth Directional Microphones that latch on to the hearing aids. The Mike can be placed on the dining table. The advantage here is it cuts out the noise in the restaurant and picks up whatever signal comes out of the microphone. The Mic needs a special design to cut out most of the ambient noise and pick up just signals from say three to five feet range.
Wishful Thinking may be but I am talking to Rode Microphones an Australian Manufacturer.
