In Dec 2019, when there was so much turmoil all over the world, "I believed that for all people of a Nation to Unite they needed a common enemy" often a war with a bordering country.
Extrapolating the same Vision "For People on the entire Planet to Unite we also needed a Common Enemy I thought, but this meant nothing short of an invasion by the Martians, as Man ruled Planet Earth Supreme as he believed that "From the Centre all round to the Sea, He (meaning Man) was the master of the Fowl and the Brute"
This is a Poem by Alexandre Selkirk that I studied in my 9th Std at School and is for even embedded in my Mind.
The Solitude of Alexander Selkirk
- by William Cowper (1731-1800)
The first verse is embedded in my mind, then rest a vague memory requiring Google to replenish one more time.
Covid lock downs have brought about similar Solitudes in us Humans, as we dwell in our cubicles fearing the unknown and relearning how to live in harmony with nature, all over again.
Don't ask me why but for some reason in my Second innings since year 2000, my second life, I realise that having experienced near death I now see life on earth differently and pray for global unity and harmony that many many sages have tried to promote over centuries.
I am no sage but some force in me drives me to capture events as and when they take place, not that anyone cares but at least, serves me as a repository of events that mattered to me and was concerned about as an when they occurred. The Donald Trump Reign in USA tells us of a Man with Obsessive Compulsive disorder. He is not all bad but suffers from a delusional mental state which says "My Way or Highway".
"He will hire you and if you disagree with him he will Fire you too".
Must Win Syndrome is an obsessive Compulsive disorder that controls Trumps Actions
People in democracies elect people to form a govt to serve the people. When Politicians win majority votes in Both houses they misunderstand why majority supported them. They seldom realise that the majority Condemned the opposition. It is more often that not a Vote of No Confidence against the incumbent govt for its misrule.
Next election if Congress wins the election again it will be because people voted against Modi Govt and not for Congress.
The problem here is the two party system where public have to vote for one or the other even if they do not like both options. You vote for the lesser evil most times
Coming back to Covid.
Yes we are wearing masks and washing our hands as mandated by our Governments. We do not bother if Govt does not make it compulsory as if it was the Govts responsibility.
What about our own responsibilities as individuals ?
Should we not take all necessary precautions ? using just logic and common sense to ward off covid infections ?
Isn't Prevention better than Cure ?
By now all of us are aware that Covid is Airborne and get transmitted from infected people when they cough or sneeze. This airborne Virus then gets inhaled by those in the area and the virus enters the body through the nose & mouth mostly but can also enter the human body through the eyes and ears as they are openings to the human body.
Wearing masks and washing hands are good practices but not enough.
How about smearing some coconut oil on our faces assuming the air borne virus will get stuck to the oiled skin and die instantly.
What if we dab our fingers in oil and coat the insides of the nostril with oil and also take a teaspoon of oil and swish it in the mouth before leaving home. This makes sense to me but we people will not believe this unless it comes from a doctor.
On returning home from our jaunts, we get rid of the masks and have a hot bath also also wash our faces eyes nostrils ears and mouth with hot water giving the virus little chance of finding its way to our lungs.
Once the virus gets to the lungs then the problem gets out of our hands.
How about inhaling steam when we come home not only to protect ourselves but to protect our loved ones.
But then all this is too much hassle. Let's wait until we get the infection and depend on medical doctors to save our lives.
Can doctors care for you more than you care for yourselves ?
Last 12 months we have realised the shortcomings of man and science in general and how our dependency on WHO and FDA were all ill placed.
The Good thing about Covid is that no one is blindly believing WHO or FDA and each Country is taking the responsibility to combat Covid and we as individuals should do everything within our means to combat Covid.
My recent visit to my Srilankan GP who is an MRCP from UK, who was looking at all prescriptions from specialists for COPD told me, "How about putting aside all your puffers and nasal sprays and antihistamines etc as they have not given you any relief. "
"How about some alternate therapy to see if it helps ?"
On a Piece of paper he scribbled the following:
He said boil all these in water and drink this water as often as possible.
I was skeptical as I had tried hot milk with turmeric in it and was of no help.
Any way I went home and followed his instructions and within a day I could see the relief.
It is now one full week and I have not used any of the prescribed puffers or inhalers or tablets.
Same way don't wait for doctors to prescribe the magic medicine to cure you of Covid as they do not know themselves and I have read about many doctors who themselves have died of Covid Infections
