Re - Protests in India by PK,
We should look at the present situation in a broader historical perspective, than of personalities.
I think that what we are seeing now is the struggle for emancipation of a vast population that has been subjugated over the centuries.
Now they feel they have a fighting chance. Long years of frustration may make them violent at times.
As seen in the past small powerful sections will ally with the establishment to maintain the status quo. These are sections that have benefited from the exploitation throughout. No one likes to lose power. You will notice that class and upper castes want to maintain the status quo.
Like the rulers and colonisers of yore, they will bring legal, clever, learned arguments to keep their hegamony.
Majoritarism, will be shown to be different from Democracy. But the flow of history is against them.
People tend to think in terms of ideology in this polarisation. It is more a division of class and caste on one side, looking for a just solution. If it was based on ideology, then the Communists should have been on the other side.
Those that survive, will be the ordinary people and political BC, OBC, MBC parties that have grass roots support. Lalu, Dravida parties and others who have substantial numbers.
Those that can mobilise voters in large numbers is bound to win.
Not the elite, however rich.
