I received this Valuable forward from a Young Man just now and I thought to myself How True..
Next minute it evoked a different kind of reaction amd I wrote to him the following message:
"Quite Often it is not even regret but a Public display at funerals to show they cared. Lot of BS. I had hundreds of friends who wined and dined with me when the going was good. When I had a Stroke in Year 2000, majority made a phone call to Mithu to say how sorry they were to here the bad news and there ended that friendship.
Then I had may be 100 friends who visited me in the Hospital to say how sorry they were.
Soon after, all the rich ones with money distanced themselves in case I might lean on them financially. Of course they said they were busy and struggling to find time to visit me or ring me.
This is when my Mothers Famous words Came True.
She said you can count your REAL FRIENDS using the fingers in one hand (meaning five fingers) and if you need a second hand to count then you are lucky man.
I have now celebrated 20 Years Post Stroke which I call my "Second Innings" as I was given out by the Umpire but overruled by the Third Umpire.
I know in my heart who my TRUE Friends are and can count them in one hand
I have told Anand and Mithu that I want only my REAL FRIENDS to attend my Funeral. Do not want long faces and fake tears from people who did not care for me when I was alive.
