IIT Global Hall Of Fame
(aka Rambos Hall of Fame)
Welcome Message
In 2001, I was over the moon to reconnect with my IITM Classmates from 1969 & 1970 Batches (me plugging in my 3rd Year which meant I had 400 buddies and not just 200 like most) through Yahoo groups created by IITM Alumni assn
Imagine the joy of reconnecting after 30 Long years . I have always cherished family and friends more than anything else in this world
In May 2002, I was in London to attend my sisters 60th B Day. I arrived without her knowledge and walked into her big bash to surprise her. The rest was an awesome holiday
On 23rd July 2002, I woke up in London with an early morning dream. Those of you who know me well Know that I have had so many of these early morning dreams or premonitions that have come true.
This dream was the idea of Creating and IIT Madras Global Alumni Group the idea was to connect with seniors and juniors who were my friends
Sitting in London with an XT computer and my nieces help, I start the IITMadras Global Group
When I came back home to Sydney my good friend Vijay Kumar an IIT D alumnus said why Just IIT Madras Ram why not all five IITs ?.
Fabulous idea I thought and all I had to do was Remove the Madras and make it IIT Global
23rd July 2021 with mark the 19th Year of IIT Global Groups and we had about 5000 members

IIT GLOBAL BLOG
In 2017 September when my Computer got hacked and then hackers were black mailing me overnight I decided to quit all social media Face Book, LinkedIn, Twitter and all Yahoo groups Plus I dumped my ramrajah@optusnet.com email address and along with it the entire address book
I requested my friend Raju Jairam in Colorado to be Admin of IIT Global groups and he managed IIT Global Groups until Yahoo pulled the Plug on all Yahoo groups wiping out all interactions of 20 long years
Through IIT Global I got to know so many “LIKE MINDED PEOPLE” people who shared similar ideas to me (Sans Politics) basically "NATIONALISTS AT HEART", wanting to give back to India.

Many Desi's have told me Rambo we stayed back and served the country and you Ran away so you are an NRI meaning Not Really an Indian.
Magar Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani Doston
and let us not forget Mahatma Gandhi too was an NRI was he not ?
Unlike PanIIT which is Bank rolled by Rich IITians seeking Power, IIT Global was a “No Strings Attached Anna Hazare type to movement or revolution..”
If You are an Invited member to this IIT Global Hall of Fame it tells you how much I value your friendship and have admired you for your achievements, inspirations and above all the “No Compromise Attitude”
The magnificent Seven I admire & have listed here as Core members are :-
Ashley Solomon - B.Tech IITM 1969 Batch. Ashley was my wing mate and hero as he was a Saxophone player. Without his knowledge I used to stand in the corridor outside his room listening to him practice. I will let Solly tell you all about the B Tek’s Band
Elizabeth Alexander - B Tech 1980's
Mutharasan - IITM 1969 Batch - also my wing mate in 1st year at Godavari Hostel. Even in my first year I knew this chap was like a Professor. When he talked, six or seven of us stood in silence and listened to all his words of Wisdom and even lessons on the Proper way to tie a Lunghi. Muthu was a very active member of The IIT Global Renewable Energy Sub Group
Samir Kalekar - IITB Got to meet Samir through IIT Global as well as JAGO India Yahoo group I created to fight corruptions after Satyendra Dubey was murdered in Cold Blood by corrupt men. Samir was the one who Said Rambo we must do something to stop Suicides in IITs. There were as many deaths as 5 in 2005 alone in IITB . Samir made a gallant effort and started a Yahoo group called Umang with about 35 IIT alumni and IITB faculty as members but abandoned after IITB Director gave Samir the Cold shoulder. Another early morning dream, I got out of bed and started the Blog covering Suicides in IITs to raise the awareness and to force the hands of administrators to take positive actions like having expert counsellors like we had at Sydney University. Today it has raised awareness, made people sit up and listen and take action. It received nearly half a million hits and is very much alive.
Varun Arya - IIT D Alumnus Plus Ex President of IITD Alumni Association. Trying to fight corruption I had a Knife put to my throat twice in TN and I packed up and left India. I was the Lucky one that got away whilst Satyendra Dubey paid with his life. In 2003 it was Dubeys murder that brought me into contact with Varun who has steadfastly stood up against corruption all his life.
Vickram Crishna - IIT D Alumnus From 2009 to 2017 Vic and I fought Side by side. We opposed Indias Aadhaar, Nandan Nilekani's "Not So Unique Idea"(blatant copy of US Social security card) for Privacy reasons. Vickram is Another Sashi Tharoor but from Rishi Valley school. You need a dictionary to understand what Vic is trying to tell me even in WhatsApp messages. Every article I wrote opposing Aadhaar was edited by Vicram
Vickram Crishna, IITD 1975 and PGDM IIMC 1977, follow innovation by continually questioning 'why', in the belief that the egotistical 'why not' underlies nearly all the deliberately destructive technologies with which we are surrounded. Personally favour frugal technologies, self learning and non-discriminatory participation in the expansion of scientific knowledge and applied technologies.

Basically you are the Magnificent Seven amongst my IIT Friends
Now Young Raghav Mittal 1999-2004, Dual Degree 5 year programme…IITKGP/Nehru Hall/CS/9947114 ( This kid is a Bachha like my son Anand). Raghav and I have interacted through IIT Global Groups and I remember writing a couple of articles for some publication of his (I don’t remember details. getting old duh) and we lost touch
Out of the Blue on 30th May 2021 as I was doing some cleaning up I came across an email from Raghav Dated 2019 in
And Raghavs response was “...I had never given up on your chairmanship for the IIT Global Summit 2021. The seed you sowed and the pathway you showed needs to be taken further and forward for sure. The change of tech frontiers doesn’t make any difference. You have now given an incredible binding theme - Saving IITs for future generations alongside the monicker of Intense Inner Transformation..”

Just came across your Reflections of IITians and felt like releasing a reprint of the same in a new avatar....
Also I recollected our conversations of taking further and forward the IIT Global Initiative - A network of Global IITians who soared their wings high globally but acted locally to make a tangible difference somewhere.....
We would like to felicitate/recognize a band of such Glocal IITians....

This is quite rich 🤑 Ram Da...no wonder veterans like you made the brand IIT...now the standards have gone down immensely...even after I passed out in 2004...the rapid expansion of the IIT system in the name of political opportunism is also a big reason for this....People now use the term first generation IITs, second generation and so on...
The next thing I know was that Raghav asked me to be the Chair at IIT Global celebration on 18th August 2021 and I said “No Way:
