010 - PILL TESTING AT MUSIC FESTIVALS,

There were five deaths at Music festivals in NSW in 2018 caused by drugs. Acknowledge it is very sad and should not have happened under any circumstance; but it did and we have the NSW State Govt and State Police using power and authority and penalising people who organise Music events and in the process are also hurting the Music Industry. Please do not kill the Music Industry even if you are stone deaf.

Alex Ross would not have done what she did that caused her death. She took the Pills before she came to the festival grounds to avoid being caught by police and the minute she saw policemen and sniffer dogs she panicked and swallowed what ever she had in her possession and died from overdose.

Who killed Cock Robin ?
Not the festival organisers but It was the police presence and fear of being caught and fear of her parents coming to know about it.

Had there been minimum  police presence as in previous years just to maintain law and order and to evict people behaving badly Alex Ross might still be alive.

Sniffer dogs don't just sniff drugs, all dogs sniff the crotch of men and women and the minute this happens young people are taken away and strip searched by police. I am a senior citizen and was at the venue and stood there observing the happenings at FoMo Paramatta.

Men and women wearing police uniforms are still humans with weaknesses. Many of the girls strip searched for no obvious reason were pretty. Say no more. God only knows how many innocent boys and girls were stripped naked and videoed using hidden cameras that were streaming the images. Say no more. I am aware that this happens at airports screening too. Good looking people are always strip searched at random they get told.

Felt very uncomfortable as there were too many police personnel and too many private security guards  allowed on the field by festival organisers to meet the demands of the authorities.

The kids were not enjoying the music as in previous years; they were all looking over the shoulders watching what the cops were doing and believe it or not some cops were busy watching the show videoing the main artists on stage. and being paid for this too.

National statistics suggests that there are as many as 3500 drug related deaths per annum in Australia, that is ten deaths every day
and instead of coming up with a National Policy on Drug Control and saving lives NSW State Politicians cannot see the forest for the trees.

You just have to talk to hospital emergency departments to establish drug overdose victims and resulting deaths. No one in the media talks about the real drug menace Australia is facing.  Australia is being targeted by countries like Thailand to make big money pushing illegal drugs into Australia.

3500 drug related deaths per annum and the entire focus is on Music Festivals with 5 deaths and some caused by police presence and we have this prolonged Coroners enquiry; wonder where we are going with this line of thinking.

As a Father and concerned about teenagers, I like the concept of Pill testing as it could/might save a few lives, but to have pill testing at music festivals is not the answer as a kid has to be foolish to give a tablet for testing knowing that it is illegal to take drugs.

As a Nation we should adopt pill testing and nominate one Chemist per Council, nation wide for confidential pill testing for all drug users and not just those attending music festivals. Instead of just scraping a pill a whole pill could be tested. This way may be they can save 3000 of the 3500 people dying per year.

People will always drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes and this costs medicare billions of dollars treating people with lung and liver cancers linked to substance abuse.

Lack of drug policies based on common sense is resulting in all our hospital emergency depts nation wide with drug overdose victims and it costs a tonne of money too that could be reduced to a large extent by Pill Testing nationally by approved Chemists at Pharmacies guaranteeing anonymity for drug users seeking help.
